Heartsaver CPR & AED
This course teaches basic CPR skills for adult, child, and infant such as performing a head-tilt-chin-lift and giving compressions and breaths as well as the use of the automated external defibrillator (AED). The course provides training for anyone who wants to learn basic CPR and obtain a Heartsaver course completion card.
What is an AED? An AED is a battery-operated device used to administer an electrical shock though the chest wall to the heart. The device can monitor the heart rhythm and indicate if an electrical shock from the AED is needed. Defibrillation is needed when the heart is not beating in a synchronized rhythm. AED’s are designed for easy use during cardiac arrest emergencies. CPR/AED training is encouraged to provide familiarization with the proper application of AED’s.
